Slowly you become your project.. it consumes you…. Do I look like my toad yet?
ART CAUSER
Alexandra Figueira - Tortosa's W.I.P & PortfolioI finished two Gnomon workshop tutorials, one for my toads eye and one just to get some subsurface scattering going. The tutorials are free and available on their site. I really enjoyed them. They have a bunch of different free tutorials so you should check em out.
I also came across Suren Manvelyan crazy cool pictures of eyes. They are so beautiful. Human eyes remind me of the visual effects used in the movie the fountain, so pretty.

My feelings towards texturing at the moment….
I’ve been wanting to print on fabric for some time. So I made some decorative tea towels. I bought some Irish Linen, sewed and then letterpressed them. I first tried it on the little Adana but the impression wasn’t even. So I ended up using the Morgan. Only issue I had here was actually aligning my fabric.
The end result wasn’t what I wanted but still turned out k.
So I learned how to use Polypaint yesterday. I went and found some ok pictures and created a square tiled texture so I could go into zbrush and paint it on my toad. Now this is only going to be the base. From here I will export the texture and take it into Photoshop and touch it up some more. Ty said that a lot of people use this as their texture but is always best to touch it up in Photoshop.
That’s it for tonight… :3 I’m le pooped…
:3
Wow this is really well done. Maybe sometime I will have to try and take a crack at making a frog.
good job artcauser
Thank you so much creativity!! Thanks for the support, it really means a bunch :)

So last night Ty went to show me how to texture and magically my UV map was gone from my ZBrush model. :( blaah. I also managed to delete 2 sets of low rez geometry. Lucky for me ZBrush actually has a function to reconstruct previous low rez geometry based off your higher rez model.
Now I’m just taking the new Low rez model and redoing the UV’s. Ty sais it isn’t such a bad thing, mainly because my model did change a lot in ZBrush and I’d probably get some stretching in my texture. It’s also a nice recap on UV mapping.
I also made a base and downloaded a script to generate some rocks for the little guy. Ty played around with a mental ray render as you can see from the above image. This is just the low rez model with no textures or any displacement maps. Still looks pretty damn awesome. :D
I still have to put new big eye balls. Can’t wait to give him crazy hypno-toad eyes. LOL!!
The Toad
So for a bit work got crazy and Mr. Toad was just chillen. Now I’m at it again and that makes both of us happy. I’ve been doing a lot of high frequency detailing but I still need to do a bit more low frequency detail. I always seem to get lost in the little things. I enjoy the little things though. Still need to add wrinkles and more details on his hands and face. Isn’t he cute? I just wanna kiss him. I love toads :D
Hmmmm… I
An Update….
So It was my friend Kristens birthday a few days ago and I decided to letterpress a card. At first I had this crazy idea that there was no way I’d be able to complete in one day so I just scraped it and did something easier. Here are some pictures. I drew out the border. Hmmm.. It was nice using the press, I miss it. :D
So I’ve been slowly working on refining my beautiful toad in Zbrush. I really have been enjoying how easy it is to add detail in Zbrush, but there are a few things about the program that are driving me nuts. I might just be my tablet or maybe it’s both. I have to figure it out. I know I will, just not at this second.
Anywho, I’m very happy how toadster is turning out.
